The Importance of Audience Research allows the film production company to gain an insight into what an audience member would want to see in the genre of their film.  Such ideas as:

• Listening/viewing/reading habits.
• Allows the film to be focused on a certain target audience. (E.G: Teen girls for a Rom-Com).

With the film aimed at a certain audience it will allow the film company to develop more unique ways to advertise the film to get it across to the targeted audience. (E.G: A Horror filmed aimed at audience members who play video games and are used to bloodshed).
